In the phase of globalization, places have lost their identities and boundaries blurred. We humans are facing the largest scale of migration ever, departing from distinctive culture of each region and venturing into the strange contemporariness of homogenous steel, glass, mechanism and robotic intelligence. Only that our collective expedition is not just across continents or oceans but also time. Is what awaiting ahead the God’s will, message of Mother Nature or the self-erasing program of man’s own creation? In this series of artworks, I would like to portrait how travellers perceive our “new world” in their mental vision. It is an alternate reality, a place that prophets thrive, magic and science merge, terror and benevolence are negotiated among Gods, evolutions and revolutions respond infinitely to men’s lust. It is an era of searching for the wise and new identity of living. It is overall, an era of global exodus.
The triptych “be aware of bears” is the first set of paintings in this series. It portraits a female traveller who searches for signs to decode right roads across time and place. Her adaptability and
determination to establish new identities of living are greatly tested.
The Triptych "pilgrim" portraits the viewpoints and relationships between man and historical monuments. The paintings are questions to cultural preservation amid of temporarility and change.
